St. Clair, Mo., Oct. 3 – America’s most celebrated “helpful place” celebrated the 90th anniversary of R&R Ace Hardware St. Clair, Mo., on Oct. 1.
R&R Ace Hardware, located at 845 N. Commercial Ave., brings the company’s unique blend of personal, knowledgeable and helpful service paired with quality home maintenance expertise and products to St. Clair residents.
"Some of you may have heard that we are celebrating 90 years in business this October!" the store said on Facebook. "We cannot wait to share in the excitement with all of you! We’ve got giveaways, raffles and special events all month long! To get us started, every Saturday in October we will be handing out 90 FREE red/bronze 4” mums with the first 90 transactions of the day between both floors. There are 5 Saturdays total, so make sure you stop by early to get yours! In 1932, W.R. (Roy) and Rita Parks started a small variety store to help offset the hardships of the Great Depression. Since then, R&R has grown from a 400-square-foot store into the current two story, 28,000-square-foot building.
W.R. and Rita's son, Paul, returned to the store from the Marines in 1946. What started out as a dime store quickly became much more, selling items from clothing to stationary and greeting cards. The third generation joined the store, including Tom in 1974 and sister Patti in 1985. The Ace name was added in 1979. Tom's son, Jordan, returned to the store in 2015, and his daughter, Paige, in 2018, as the family's fourth generation at the store.
Primarily a hardware store now, R&R supplies customers with services like key cutting and screen repair, and also filling helium balloon orders and gift wrapping. A greenhouse and courtyard give customers a wide choice of plants during the spring. Always changing and updating, R&R strives to meet each customer's needs. "R&R Ace truly is so much more than a hardware store," according to its website.
The store is packed with thousands of essential products and supplies, including some of the most-respected brand names and best-selling items to help people take care of their homes. Key store focuses and product offerings include lawn and garden, hardware, paint, plumbing, outdoor living, power equipment, grilling, lighting, as well as niche products such from brands like DeWalt and Benjamin Moore.
R&R Ace Hardware hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
